“Charlie” graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1950 with a degree in electrical engineering. Aside from his first job after finishing college with General Electric in Connecticut, Charlie worked his entire career for Schlumberger, Limited, in the oilfields of South Louisiana.
A quiet Southern gentleman, he enjoyed twisting his signature handlebar mustache, making a serious face with eyebrows furrowed, while thinking of something witty to say. He lived his retirement years at his own pace and was never, ever in a hurry. Like his father, he enjoyed the outdoors: fishing with a cane pole, feeding the birds, squirrels, deer, raccoons, and the occasional skunk. He especially enjoyed watching and reading about the stock market – Barron’s and CNBC will no doubt miss their most loyal fan.
Friends may call on Monday May 7th 2012 from 5-7PM at the Mulhearn Funeral Home, 300 McMillian Road, West Monroe, LA. Services will follow at the funeral home on Tuesday May 8th at 10:00AM. Interment will be in Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA, where the Golson family will be together once again. Peace in the valley...
