Charles Edward Hurley Sr.'s Obituary
Charles Edward Hurley, Sr., age 81, of Lovettsville, VA went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 28, 2011, at Heritage Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Charles was born on Thursday, May 29, 1930 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Joseph H. and Florence Hurley. Charles served his country in the US Marine Corp. from December 9, 1946, to December 9, 1952, earning the rank of Sgt.
Charles worked for the federal government as a Printer.
In the 1960’s, Charles served as a deputy Sheriff for Montgomery County Police Department, and was a volunteer with the Chillum Adelphi PG County Fire Department.
He was a lifetime member of the Columbia Washington Daylight Lodge #14, and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle Club #1136, Brunswick, MD; and the Scottish Rites Valley of Washington, DC.
He is survived by his partner and best friend, Virginia G. Fleming of Lovettsville, VA; 6 children: Linda & husband Rob Kelsey of Alpharetta, GA, Barbara Jane & husband James Carroll, daughters, Patricia & husband Michael Wingreen of MD, Mary Ann Hurley of Frederick, MD, Thomas Hurley & wife Carol and Charles Hurley & wife Kathleen; step children, Robert Fleming & wife Dianne of Brunswick, MD, Carol Danner & husband Robert of Lovettsville, VA; 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, Susan Longerbeam and family, Brandi Marcum and family, Lori Eackles and husband, and Cole Fleming of Brunswick, MD 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Joseph Hurley.
A memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Brown- Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 34 East Broad Way Lovettsville, Virginia 20180 with the Rev. Andreas Armstrong officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the service begins.
Interment will follow in Lovettsville Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA.
