Charles H Marshall's Obituary
Charles H Marshall was a longtime resident of White Hall, MD, Smith Mountain Lake, Moneta, VA and, most recently, Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, VA. Charlie loved people and was loved by them in return. He will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother and sisters, nephews and nieces, neighbors, and friends. He was 88 years young, March 31,1936 to September 23, 2024. His parents, Theodore and Edith Marshall, as well as his beloved wife Nancy Jean Sweeny Marshall, predeceased him.
Charlie was best known for his ability to make anything fun, to make others laugh and to enjoy a laugh himself. An avid junk collector, Charlie loved to work with his hands and mold trash into treasures. He was also renowned for his green thumb, whether it be crops, vegetables, or flowers. Charlie’s true love was to share the spoils of his gardens with others and to watch their smiles bloom.
Charlie's career spanned most of his life. He spent more than four decades helping farmers produce the best yield from their crops with agricultural chemicals and advanced farming practices. An avid farmer himself, Charlie produced hogs and later Christmas trees from Timber Hill Farm in White Hall, MD.
During their residency at Smith Mountain Lake, Charlie and Nancy were avid supporters of Lake Christian Ministries. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Lake Christian Ministries, www.lakechristianministries.org.
Celebration of life to be held at a later date.
