When Chuck and Andy moved to Halifax Rd he had one concern. How would Andy fit in? Andy was quiet and reserved. It did not take long for Chuck to know this was the place for them, this was home. However, Chuck would never stop worrying about his son because that what dad's do.
It was wonderful to see the grown children remember Chuck so fondly. He was patient, caring and truly enjoyed the time he spent with friends and family. He always wanted to use his skills to help others whether it was reading to Elementary School kids or volunteering with ACT. Illness and misfortune had a way of sapping Chuck's physical strength but his optimism and kindness never allowed it to be about him.
Chuck taught us to truly enjoy the moment in time with others. In this world of instant communications we move on to the next thing to soon. Let's be more like Chuck and enjoy the moment we are in with the person we are sharing it with. Dad's will always worry about their sons so it was no wonder that in the last few years, when Chuck could no longer care for himself, it was Andy who showed his dad how much he had taught him. It was Andy who was patient, caring and loving because sons worry about their dads too.
We will miss his kindness and joy of sharing our moments together.
