Charles E. Thornton's Obituary
Charles Edgar Thornton, Jr., of Leesburg, VA – known with affection as Boogie and Cheeks, departed this earthly life July 17, 2019 at his home. He was born June 27, 1938 to Charles Edgar Thornton, Sr. and Mozelle Bowles Thornton. He attended Loudoun County Public Schools and worked as a brick mason and later as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, football and wrestling and chewing his favorite tobacco.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Lester Thornton, Sr., brother-in-law Charles Lucas, Sr., and sister-in-law Ruth Thornton. Boogie leaves to cherish his memory siblings Chester Thornton, Sr., Alice Lucas, James Thornton, Sr. (Evelyn), Jeanette Menefee (Alfred), Samuel Thornton (Stella), William Thornton (Doris), and Mozelle Payton (Stevenson); two aunts Laura Bowles and Yvonne Neal, two uncles Sonny Bowles, and Leon Thornton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Boogie was loved by all who knew him. He was kind, fun-loving, but quiet and kept to himself most of the time. He lead a simple life and was content with just relaxing or in his earlier years, ready to party. Some of his most memorable sayings were, “the party’s on,” “Katie barred the door,” “whatcha know good,” “I love it when a plan comes together,” and “knock some boots.”
He will be remembered for many things but mostly for his willingness to help family and others. He will be missed greatly.
