Charlotte Griffin Ahalt, age 82, passed away Christmas Day December 25, 2025 at home

Taswell Griffin and Fidelia Overton. She was the youngest of ten siblings raised on her family’s
dairy farm.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Ahalt and her two children Ashley
Ahalt Drenning (husband Bowen) and Brian Thomas Ahalt (wife Polly); five grandchildren, Ty
Benjamin Drenning, Seth Griffin Drenning, Wynn Ashley Drenning, Laurel Daly Wedemeyer, and
Charlotte Daly Ahalt. She is also survived by three sisters, and two sisters-in-law. Sisters Nell
Davenport, Marjorie Ramsey and Rebecca Pittman (Husband Jerry); two sisters-in-law, Patsy
Griffin and Martha Underwood. Charlotte is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was blessed with a large and loving family. In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by her brothers Dick, Bill, Jimmy and Johnny Griffin, as well as her sisters Ruth
Griffin Williams and Fidelia Griffin Morgan. She was also predeceased by brothers-in-law
Anthony Allen Ahalt, Calvin Davenport, Bob Williams, Tommy Morgan, and Charles Ramsey,
Jack Glitzner, as well as sisters-in-law Stella Ahalt Glitzer, Dot Griffin and Catherine Griffin.
Charlotte led a very active and fun filled life. She was a basketball star in high school. She
continued her education at Campbell University in Home Economics. She moved to Virginia in
1969 to work for VEPCO, where her co worker, Tony Ahalt (Tom’s brother) introduced them.
They were married July 11, 1970. Charlotte moved into the field of Human Resources and
completed her professional career as Assistant Director of Human Resources for the American
College of Radiology.
Charlotte’s faith was most important in her life. She was a long time member of Leesburg
Baptist Church and then Summit Point Baptist after moving to West Virginia. She attended
regularly and participated in her church community throughout her entire life. She loved to quilt
and was an avid sports fan. There is not a time when she was not following the sports of the
given season. This was also displayed in the support of her children and grandchildren. She
never missed a game if possible. And she always had a smile for everyone.
Charlotte and Tom chose to follow their son and daughter-n-law and live out their days in
Charleston SC to help with their last grandbaby, Charley. We are bringing her home to Loudoun
County to rest and join her savior Jesus Christ. May God Bless us all in this time of grief and
carry on her joy.
