We were shocked by the tragic news of Shane's death. Such sadness for all that loved him but especially his children. Our prayers and condolences to you all in what must be the most terrible time in your lives. May God Bless his soul and bring him home to Heaven and may God's Holy Spirit touch your hearts to help you grieve and heal from this horrific and senseless loss of a really good guy.
I have one memory of Shane that has often flashed through my mind. It's of his son running to him to tell him 'I love you dad' and Shane kinda snuggle hugged him and said 'I love you.' That memory will forever define, for me, who Shane was.

Shane - the day you were born was such an exciting day. Your Grampa Oregon and I were camped near Mt Hood (where you found snow on one of your many trips to visit us) and our friends were so excited to be there when we got the news. Grampa Oregon loved you so much and you were his first grandson (mine too!) and he treasured all of your firsts in your life. He worked for hours and hours building "Shane's Gravel Grabber" and Tina and her husband brought it home to Virginia from Oregon where he made it. Our neighbors had kids your age - Jeremy and Nick - who still remember you with fondness and they send along their thoughts of sympathy for your Mom and Dad. I remember our talks when we lived in WV and I treasure that you shared things with me that you couldn't share with anyone else. I loved you so much. And you were so adorable and thoughtful and loving towards me and Grampa Oregon. I know he was there when you crossed over and he will take care of his first grandchild. I understand that your recent life was full of despair and desperation and I'm so sorry I wasn't in touch during these years but you were always in my mind and heart. Grampa Oregon left us in 2004 but he lives on in our hearts and in his care for his family. I miss you Shane. Love, Granny K
