Clarence Barksdale's Obituary
Clarence Richard Barksdale, age 89, of Leesburg died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg.
Born June 1, 1918 in Gretna, VA, he was the son of the late Edward Norman Barksdale and Carrie Virginia (Bullington) Barksdale. He was a retired carpenter, member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Union and American Legion Post 181. Clarence was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific and an avid stock car racing fan. He was long time member of the Leesburg Baptist Church.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Whetsell) Barksdale of Leesburg, three daughters, Dottie Coates and her husband Randy of Lovettsville, Sibby Hill and husband Chuck of Hummelstown, PA and Jerra Wise and husband Jim of Waynesboro, VA. He is also survived by sisters Alice Stephens of Gretna, Virginia and Mary Gunter of South Boston, VA, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Friends may call on Sunday Dec. 30, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Leesburg, Community Church 835 Lee Avenue, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Interment will be held on Wed. January 2, 2008 at 11:00 am at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
