Concetta Mangus McKimmey's Obituary
OBITUARY INFORMATIONCONCETTA MANGUS MCKIMMEY, 95, of Lovettsville, Virginia died on Monday, September 24, 2012 at home. Mrs. McKimmey was born June 14, 1917 in the Bronx, NY to the late John J. and Jenni Avvisato Mangus. Her husband of 54 years, Wayne F. McKimmey predeceased her in 1996. She attended grade school in Passaic, NJ, graduated from Mary Washington College in 1939 and received her master’s degree from Columbia University during later years. She began her teaching career in Loudoun County Public Schools. Mrs. McKimmey was the first woman elected to the Loudoun County School Board, serving from 1968-72. She taught at Brunswick High School from 1965 until retiring in 1984.
Mrs. McKimmey is survived by her three daughters: June Sterling (Charles), Jean Karmen (Bradley), Sarah Stillman (Richard) all of Lovettsville; a sister: Grace Paul of Wayne, NJ; eight grandchildren: Kevin Warner, Jenny Karmen, Katie Stillman, Laura Karmen, Rachael Stillman, Stacey Karmen, Mitchell Karmen, Maggie Stillman and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg. Funeral services will be held at the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 12942 Lutheran Church Road in Lovettsville on Friday, September 28th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Lovettsville Union Cemetery.
