To my sadness, I Googled Prof. Tierney's name this afternoon as I periodically do to see where he is, only to learn of his passing. I have always done so over the years to see how I may contact him to thank him for the positive impression he made in my life. I have told my staff many stories of Prof. Tierney and his influence over the years. He was a true accounting genius! More than that, he had the best temperament of any teacher I ever known. My last contact with him was when I called him in 2003 to obtain his counsel on professional matters. He was just as attentive as he was during all those years in class at GW. He will be sorely missed. And I really wished my prior attempts over the years to find him to express my profound gratitude for his positive influence in my life had been successful. Nevertheless, I am sure he is resting in peace, and that those of us who were privileged to have known him will pass his kindness on.
