Cynthia Mae Fischer's Obituary
Cynthia Mae Fischer, resident of Leesburg, Virginia, formerly of Nutley, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Cindy was born on July 15, 1935 in Nutley, New Jersey to Lynwood Augustus and Mary Tripp. After graduating from Centenary University, she married Robert Fischer at Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley on September 10, 1955.
She and Bob raised three children in their hometown of Nutley, where Cindy lived a rich life full of friendship and love. She worked as an administrative assistant at Pennsylvania Equities for 28 years.
She remained close with Nutley school friends throughout her life. She played weekly bridge, loved needlework, and spending weekends at their home in the Poconos. She and Bob loved going out to dinner, especially to Ralph’s, to share red wine, stories, and laughs over an Italian meal with friends and family.
The family spent summers in Lavallette, NJ where Cindy loved soaking up the sun, completing crossword puzzles, and teaching her granddaughters the joy of eating Taylor Ham sandwiches on a hard roll. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she and Bob hosted annual Christmas Eve parties for years in their family home. She loved baking Christmas cookies, exchanging holiday cards, and gift giving.
Later in life, Cindy and Bob spent their winters in Vero Beach, Florida and relocated to Leesburg, Virginia to be near their daughters and granddaughters.
Cynthia will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Fischer, and her children Jill (William) Knoll, Robert (Maryann) Fischer, and Sharon (John) Kreger. She spent many wonderful years as “Mimi” to her six granddaughters, Marguerite (Kyle), Kaitlyn (Matt), Erin (Tony), Alison (Christopher), Abigail, and Tara (Ryan) and her six great-grandchildren, August, Gavin, Gunnar, Avalon, Adelaide and Tripp.
She was predeceased by her parents Lynwood and Mary Tripp and her sister Pauline Jackson.
A Memorial will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Ashburn, Virginia on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 10:00 am.
A Memorial will also be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley, New Jersey on Friday, August 24, 2018. Visitation at 10:30 am followed by Service and Internment in the church Memorial Garden at 11:00 am.
She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Mizpah, Cindy, Cynniemae, Mom, Mimi.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Gardens at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Ashburn, Virginia or Grace Episcopal Church in Nutley, New Jersey.
