David Kemper Ashley's Obituary
DAVID KEMPER ASHLEY, 94, of Sterling, Virginia since 2006, formerly of South Charleston, WV, passed away on Friday, March 09, 2012 in Leesburg, Virginia. Mr. Ashley was born March 24, 1917 in Corton, West Virginia to the late Rice McGhee and Emma Smith Ashley. His wife, Elizabeth F. Ashley predeceased him in August 2006. Mr. Ashley served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII from 1941-1944. He worked with Owens-Illinois in Kanawha City and Fairmont, WV before retiring in the 1970’s. Mr. Ashley attended the Bethel Baptist Church in South Charleston and loved gardening and hunting.
Mr. Ashley is survived by his beloved daughters: Dorothy J. Ashley of Sterling, VA and Sylvia W. Fields of Huntington, WV; a very close friend: Dina Smith of Sterling; a granddaughter: Carrie E. Fields of Orlando, Florida and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 from 2-4 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA. Services will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church, 5028 Kentucky Avenue in South Charleston, WV on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Charleston, WV.
