David P. Corey's Obituary
David P. Corey, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19 with his family by his side. Dave’s most prized possessions were his family whom he loved beyond words – he is survived by Jeanne, his wife of 50 years, three grown children – David, Kelly and Jill, six grandchildren – Kayla, Hannah, David, Madison, Cole and Holly, and a brother- Ron. He had a deep and devoted faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and a deep love and appreciation for our country. Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Dave liked to write poetry and among his many works were poems for each of his grandchildren. It’s appropriate that his oldest grandchildren wrote this for him and that this represents his life.
Grandpa, father, husband, brother, friend
He was cared for until the end
To me he was Grandpa, to everyone he was one of a kind
And occasionally a pain in the behind
I am grateful for all his advice
He was the most wise
Never once was he without something to say
But it was from the heart, so that made it okay
He was not one to vocalize his feelings for you
But somehow we all knew, there was nothing he wouldn’t do
Without words you knew it was not love he lacked
And he knows we all love him back
He loved so great, his heart was full
And with all the love we returned, his life was never dull
Just remember, we are the reasons for his smiles and laughter
We all know Grandma gave him his happily ever after
All three of his children were his greatest pride
Then his grandchildren started to arrive
In addition to his wife
His children and grandchildren were his life
They meant more to him than anyone could perceive
They were what made him feel complete
He cared so much and that is why
It is hard for me to say goodbye
Although this is hard for you and me
We must all know that he is free
Free from pain
Here he had nothing else left to gain
He is in a place where the Steelers always win
Just picture him with his big grin
He will be waiting for us, next to the Golden Gate
He won’t be mad we made him wait
Getting to him is not a race
So live your life out until the end at your own pace
Live in memory of the man who we all adore
Let all the good moments with him soar
He went peacefully and on his own accord
He belongs up there with the Lord
Just as we know oceans will always have waves
We can all rest easy knowing his soul is saved.
