One summer evening many years ago, I was walking home from downtown Leesburg with 2 of my daughters. We had been out for a lovely dinner. It was quite late, close to 11:00, and as we walked past the Dodd’s house, David walked out his front door. He was wearing his usual beautiful grin and he greeted us. I said, “ David! Are you going over to the chapel to lock it up?” Sheepishly, he responded, “Yes, I got rather involved in a movie and I haven’t locked the chapel up for the night!”
The 4 of us walked along talking and as we arrived in front of the chapel, David asked, “Elizabeth! Have you got your key to the chapel on you? “ “ Yes David I do.”
“ Good! May I borrow it? I’ve left mine at home!”
Providence was with us that late evening!
David is with Providence now. He was the sweetest, kindest most wonderful man, neighbor, husband and father anyone could ever have the good fortune to know.
God love you, wonderful David! Pray for us, you wonderful, saintly David!
In Christ,
Elizabeth Rice
