Wendy Kidd
Dear Sowards Family Members,
My condolences come too long after David's death. I did not know until this week that he had passed.
My sisters, brother, and I always looked forward to your visits to Mrs. Crute, our neighbor across the road, the wonderful woman who made the best Christmas cookies and butter mints and who resurrected my Mrs. Beasley with her doll-making skills. She, too, I miss.
Alan seemed much older than all of us and we watched him sometimes as he played football in the front yard, but David would meet us at that one particular tree near the end of the drive.
With none of us allowed to cross the road, we would play The Price Is Right with David always being a masterful Bob Barker testing us on the prices of cars, trucks, trips, and living room suits. I imagine that he was replaying what he had watched with his grandmother just an hour before.
David was filled with fun and energy. He had a sense of humor and a quick wit. We all loved having him as a playmate and a summertime friend.
I send you all my sympathy and hope that the years you had together and the memories you made have comforted you these years.
Always,
Wendy Waldrep Kidd
