I'll always think of her lovely, beautifully modulated voice. I swear she could have done well on radio or television! More than that, though, I'll recall her deep faith in God, her pride in her sons and deep love of her grandchildren whom we often spoke of via text since we share two of them--Milena and Sienna. Finally, the memory I cherish most: One day early this year we were texting back and forth and somehow got on the subject of our childhood and the games we played esp. jump rope and the chants that accompanied it. You know like "Down in the valley/where the green grass grows/there sat Deborah (or other name)/as sweet as a rose..." etc. It was such fun comparing chants and reminiscing. We got rather giddy that day going back and forth with our memories. That text exchange will be engraved in my memory until we meet again. Who knows, maybe we will, for part of eternity, enjoy aspects of childhood together and indulge in a vigorous round of jump rope once again! I believe that could happen and look forward to it.
