Debra Denise Turner's Obituary
Debra “Debbie” Denise Turner was born on January 9, 1964, in Winchester, Virginia, the youngest of seven children to the late William Hardin Turner and Helen Louise Fox Turner. After a long illness, she departed this life on June 14, 2023.
Debra spent her early childhood years in the small, Virginia towns of Middleburg and The Plains, before moving with her family to Leesburg, Virginia, at the age of 9, where she settled and lived for the remainder of her life. She attended schools within the Loudoun County School System, and upon high school graduation, held several positions with different companies, before returning to Loudoun County High School (LCHS) as the Cafeteria Manager, a role that she loved and maintained for many years until health issues forced her to resign. During her tenure at LCHS, Debra was highly respected and loved by both the staff and students alike, and she developed close friendships with many of them that continued even after her career at the school ended.
Among her many traits, Debra held a deep sense of compassion and gentleness of spirit towards others, always willing to assist anyone who needed help. Her kindness knew no limits; her goodness and generosity had no boundaries. She was a fierce and loyal protector of all whom she loved. She was a devoted daughter to her parents during their lives, honoring and applying the Biblical command to “honor thy father and mother.”
Debra loved to cook and bake; she was also an avid reader and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She had an infectious sense of humor; each year without fail, weeks before April 1, commonly known as April Fool’s Day, she would plan a prank on her sisters and catch them off guard on that day, which always resulted in everyone sharing a hearty laugh. Another quality that may be unknown to some of her friends and peers was her uncanny ability to playfully and accurately imitate mannerisms and gestures of others, which always caused everyone to burst into gales of laughter and ask her to do more.
What was known to all who knew her, however, was her profound love for the Lord, having been a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witness faith, which served as her core foundation, sense of guidance, and source of strength and encouragement throughout her adult life.
Debra leaves to cherish her memory her adored daughter, Erica Torres; her son-in-law, Ivan Torres; two grandsons whom she adored, Benjamin, and Sullivan; three sisters: Doris Smith and her husband, William Smith of Falling Waters, WV; Shirley Coates of Chantilly, VA; and Gail Turner of South Riding, VA; her “second mother”, Roberta Glenn, and her special niece, Karen Smith, along with a multitude of family and friends. She was predeceased in death by her parents; her sister, Ruby Burns; brothers, Raymond Turner and infant George Turner, and her special sister, Deirdre Turner.
We are brokenhearted that you have left us Beloved, but you will forever be in our hearts and minds until we are united with you again.
