Debra Lynn Weary's Obituary
Debra Lynn Weary, 52, passed from this Earth on November 2, 2016 after a long fight with cancer. She was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on March 21, 1964 to Edmond Leduc and Evelyn (Godin) Leduc. She was visited by misfortune early in her life when she lost her father to heart disease at the age of 10. During her formative years, Debra loved teaching kids how to swim as a YMCA lifeguard and frequently worked at her mother’s tuxedo business on the weekends. She also attended the University of Rhode Island earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
Her first job after school was with KPMG Consulting at Newport, Rhode Island where she met her future husband, Don. On November 10, 1990, they were married at the historic United Congregational Church, built in 1857. Ultimately, they settled in Leesburg, Virginia and were blessed with twins, Austin and Emma, on May 30, 1997.
In addition to her career as a management consultant, she was a beach bum, as well as, a semi-professional shopper with a special interest in clothes, cars, and houses. However, what she will be most remembered for is her easy laugh, infectious smile and most importantly being a devoted mother and wife.
In November 2005, she was diagnosed with a Chordoma tumor at the base of her skull. Chordomas are a very rare, very slow growing type of bone cancer with a median survival of 6-7 years. Debra endured several debulking surgeries and two months of proton beam therapy. But this is not a sad story; it is a story of hope, faith, and good friends and family. For 11 years Debra tenaciously battled the tumor and yet she was endlessly positive and still found a way to always put others first.
She is survived by her husband, son, daughter, mother, and her pets Daisy, Sisgoe and Felix.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on November 19, 2016 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cir SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Should friends or family desire, contributions may be sent to the Chordoma Foundation (https://www.chordomafoundation.org).
