Dennis P. Casey's Obituary
Col. Dennis P. Casey, USMC-Ret., passed away on June 6, 2007. He was born on November 25, 1917, in Coffeyville, Kansas. A son of the late Thomas Francis Casey, Sr., and Lora Katherine Lyons. Over a 30-year span, Colonel Casey served in the Southwest Pacific, China, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, and the US as a Marine Aviator.
Following retirement from the US Marine Corps, he joined the Small Business Administration in Washington, DC.
In 1982, Colonel Casey and his wife Carol moved to The Lake of the Woods in central Virginia. They moved to Falcons Landing in Sterling, VA, in 1999. In his leisure time, Colonel Casey enjoyed playing golf and building an experimental aircraft which flies today Taunton, Mass.
He considered the greatest highlights in his life to be his marriage to the girl of his dreams, Carole, in 1942, siring three beautiful daughters, Maureen Casey of Newport, RI; Karen Casey of Middleburg, VA, and Laura Gilbert of Chappaqua, NY; and watching his seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren grow, develop and prosper.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at 10:45a.m. at Fort Myer Chapel Ft. Myer, VA.
Graveside services and interment with full military honors will follow in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Col. Casey’s memory to the Purple Heart Families PO Box 1115, Columbia, MO 65205-1115.
