Donald Mabrey Kidwell's Obituary
Donald Mabrey Kidwell, 80 of Lucketts, Virginia died on Thursday, December 11, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born in Springfield, MO to Lester and Grace Kidwell. They preceded him in death. He grew up in Arlington, VA and later had residences in Sterling and Lucketts.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Kathy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark and Jay from a previous marriage, four grandchildren, Michael, Darby, Lydia and Veronica, daughter-in-law Deb and brother Ken and sister-in-law, Renda.
Don joined the Air Force in the mid-fifties and afterwards worked for the Federal Government until his retirement in 1986. He had assignments to Jerusalem, Italy and Vietnam.
Don was an antique automobile enthusiast and belonged to several antique automobile organizations. His interest centered on the Model A Ford and the Studebaker. He organized several antique automobile car shows at the local community center. He became a master gardener and often gave lectures on various gardening topics. His gardening techniques were impressive with an emphasis on native plants.
A viewing will be held at Loudoun Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 13, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum in Hershey, PA.
