Donna Reed Scherma's Obituary
Donna Reed Scherma, 67, of Ranson, West Virginia, died on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland.
Donna was born September 25, 1946 in Frederick, Maryland.
She was the eldest child of the late James Reed and Maurine Hatcher Reed.
Raised in Lovettsville, Virginia, Donna was in the first graduating class of Loudoun Valley High School. She was baptized a Lutheran and attended the New Jerusalem Church. After High School, she began working for NIH as a secretary. Later she went on to serve her country in in the U.S. Army. Her last duty station was Fort Shafter, Oahu, Hawaii, where she met and married her husband Louis P. Scherma. She subsequently worked with Boeing Corporation as a secretary in Kent, Washington. Her husband preceded her in death in 2000.
Donna was an ardent animal lover, especially dogs. She adopted and provided a loving home to many rescue dogs throughout her life.
She leaves her siblings to cherish her memory including her brother Larry Reed of Leesburg, VA, sister, Nancy and her husband Bill Large, of 29 Palms, CA, sister Anna Mann of Winchester, VA, and brother, Alan and his wife Leslie Reed of Hanover, MD. She is survived by her nieces and nephews whom she loved very much, David Y. Reed, Michelle Brelsford, Melissa Mann, Kenneth Large, Serenity Large, Danielle Reed, Rachel Reed and Rebecca Maurine Reed.
Memorial services will be held privately at a later date by the family.
Interment will be held in Lovettsville Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA.
