Doris Marie Bryant's Obituary
Doris Marie Murray Bryant departed in peace at the Capital Care
Memorial Hospice early Sunday morning in Arlington, VA, November 25,
2012. We loved her, but God loved her best and took her to an eternal
home in Glory.
Doris Marie Murray Bryant was born, May 29, 1943 in Leesburg,
VA to the late Arthur Lloyd and Bertha Virginia Murray. She is the great
grandchild of Rev. “Bush” Bushrod Murray of Gleedsville, VA. She was sixth
oldest of nine children. Predeceased by two brothers and one sister: Late
Richard L. Murray (Late Sarah), Late James A. Murray (Evelyn), and Late
Betty Smith (William), five sisters; B. Virginia McCorn (Virgil) of
Alexandria,VA, Deaconess Shirley Seay (Deacon Roger) of Manassas, VA,
Helen L. Cook (Franklin R), of Sterling, VA, Mary E. Tibbs (Late Thomas) of
Manassas, VA, and Deaconess Peggy A. Washington (Rev. Earl Washington,
Sr.) of Falls Church, VA.
She married the late Sgt Harland Bryant, Jr. and from that union, a
devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves behind two beautiful
daughters to cherish her memory: Carol Bryant-Rogers of Woodbridge, VA
and Sheila Bryant-Neal (David Neal) of Woodbridge, VA; three
grandchildren: Charlene, David and Rachael, and four great-grandchildren:
Tenasia, Shaniya, Jayden and Zion; sister-in-laws: Sister Bernice Campbell
of Leesburg, VA, Sister Evelyn Bryant of Leesburg, VA, brother-in-law:
Franklin Bryant of Fairfax, VA; one Aunt: Evelyn E. Elliott of Washington, DC;
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At an early age, Doris accepted Jesus Christ as her personal
Saviour and joined the Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Gleedsville, VA, where
her Great Grandfather Rev. Bushrod Murray, Teacher/Preacher, designed
and help build the church. She continued to worship and travel with sisters
to church. She stated "I loved the Lord with all my Heart" She enjoyed
listening to gospel music and would share gospel songs with her sisters.
She loved "Family Gatherings" especially being with her children, grand and
great-grandchildren.
Doris attended Douglas High School in Leesburg, VA. and
continued her studies to become a certified Bookkeeper/Accountant. Doris
was very talented in her work as Manager of Cinderella Drycleaner; a
Seamstress/Home Decorator at a Upholstery and Drapery Business in Falls
Church, VA and Cashier for a Grocery Store for more than twenty years.
She retired when her husband health needed her at home. She loved to
encourage and help others in their careers and employment. Doris was
loved by her immediate family, siblings and host of friends, where she truly
will be missed until we all will meet again.
