Doris Onome Ikomi's Obituary
Doris Onome Ikomi (née Atagana) (65) of Leesburg, VA passed on to eternal glory on Saturday February 22, 2025, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.
She was born on December 4, 1959, in Kumba, Cameroon, of Nigerian descent.
Her father was Chief Joseph Adjarho Atagana, the first Regent and Otota of Abraka Kingdom, Delta State, Nigeria, and her mother was Chief (Mrs.) Grace Igbinoghodua Atagana (née Omoruyi) of Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
She had her early education in Lagos and Sapele, Nigeria. Thereafter she attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the University of Benin Faculty of Law where she obtained her law degree, and the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos. She got married in 1986 and initially lived in Warri and Lagos, Nigeria, before moving with her family to the United States of America in 1994 and subsequently becoming a US citizen.
Doris is survived by her husband of 39 years, Engr. Samuel Gbesimi Ikomi and 2 children – Orighomisan Oluyemi Ikomi, Esq. and Benjamin Oforitsenere Ikomi. She is also survived by the following siblings – Chief Eric P. Atagana, Chief (Mrs.) Phillipa Longe (née Atagana), Silas Onanigho Atagana, Samuel Onoriode Atagana, Onajere Atagana and Mrs. Oghenerume Osagioduwa Osawota (née Atagana).
Funeral ceremonies will take place at 12 noon on Friday April 11, 2025, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg, with interment following immediately at Leesburg Union Cemetery.
The family will receive guests prior to the funeral for visitation from 11am to 12 noon.
There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday April 12, 2025, at the MFM Virginia Church sanctuary in Springfield, followed by a reception at the Potomac Station Clubhouse in Leesburg.
