Doris June Garman's Obituary
Doris June Garman, 86, died peacefully on Friday January 29th, 2010 in Reston, Virginia. Mrs. Garman was born April 27th, 1923 in Winchester, Indiana to the late Frank Lee and Jewell Enix Gulley. She graduated from Ball State University in 1945 as a registered nurse and began a carrier in nursing. Her career focused on caring for the critically ill and included working in the Intensive Care Unit at Fairfax Hospital as well as doing private duty care for patients who were severely injured or terminally ill. At retirement she was working with the United States Postal Service as the head nurse in the Merrifield regional center. Mrs. Garman was a founding member and was the oldest living member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Leesburg. She moved to Leesburg during 1962. Mrs. Garman was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was very active in the church over the years.
Mrs. Garman is survived by her three children from her marriage to Keith Ulerick: Susan Pratt of Aldie, Virginia, Sarah Ulerick of Eugene, Oregon, David Ulerick of Chevy Chase, Maryland; two brothers, Marvin Gulley and Norman Dale Gulley, three sisters Wilma Koch, Eilene Riebsomer, and Becky Stephen; three grandchildren: Stephen Pratt, Michael Pratt and Dave Kogon; a great granddaughter: Lorelai of Dave and Katie Kogon and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family members who preceded her in death include her second husband Andrew David Garman (d.1978) and her brother Frank Gulley, Jr., (d.2008).
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on February 13, 2010 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 West Market Street in Leesburg with the Reverend Thomas A. Prinz officiating. Interment will be private.
