Dorothy "Jean" Dodson's Obituary
Dorothy “Jean” Dodson, 84, of Clifton, Virginia passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Ashburn, Virginia. Jean was born Sunday, June 4, 1939, in Flint Hill, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Robert Isreal Presgraves and the late Leila Burke Presgraves.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Lawrence “Larry” Dodson Sr., her daughter Tamela “Tammy” Dodson-Baldwin, her son Lawrence “Reed'' Dodson, Jr., daughter-in-law Lynn Dodson, and her five siblings; George, Claude, Elsie, Katherine, and Charles.
Jean is survived by her son-in-law Robert Baldwin, her grandchildren, Paul Moore, Leah Veeris (Moore), Krystal Whitehead (Ian Whitehead), Lawrence Dodson III (Jana Dodson), Rosanna Dodson, and her 9 great-grandchildren; James, Michael, Gabrielle, Kaylin, Wesley, Aiden, Liam, Taylor, and Owen.
Jean went to Rappahannock High School, in which she graduated at the top of her class. During her high school years, Jean played on the girls’ softball team as their pitcher, and also excelled in basketball. Jean always cared for family and was the one everyone turned to. Jean had the heart of an angel and always greeted you with a big hug, she was very loving. Jean was a stay-at-home mother and raised her two children Tammy and Reed. She later worked with her husband Larry, at Dodson Homes, Inc. as a new home builder, constructing new homes and communities in Fauquier, Fairfax, Loudoun, Culpeper, and Louisa counties. Jean loved her sports and particularly enjoyed watching Commanders football and Nationals baseball. She regularly attended her beloved church, Centreville United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, Virginia 20175.
