Dorthea "Dot" Marie Goggin's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dorothea “Dot” Marie Goggin, who left this world too early on September 12, 2024.
Her radiant spirit, wisdom, and unwavering love will be carried forward by her three children— Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Abigail—who were undoubtedly the brightest lights in her life.
Also cherishing her memory are her siblings, Mary, Sheila, and Michael, who nurtured and celebrated every turn of life with her.
Dorothea has been greeted in the next life by her loving parents, Thomas P. Goggin and Dorothea Marie Goggin, and her brother, Thomas P. Goggin Jr.. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those who paved the way for her.
Dot brought a special light to everyone who knew her, from childhood friends to the communities she built as a mother, sister, and friend, and to all those who sat in her chair to get their hair or makeup done.
She had the beautiful ability to connect with people, making everyone feel heard, valued, and loved. Her sense of humor, authenticity, and empathy touched countless lives.
Born on October 24th, 1959 in Kittery Maine, she grew up surrounded by a large, Irish and loving family. From her early years at school, where she stood up for others and made lifelong friendships, to her career in cosmetology, where she not only styled hair but uplifted souls. Her impact on others was profound.
Her siblings and closest friends recall the joy of growing up with her—her quick wit, her wisdom beyond her years, and her boundless energy. Whether it was racing schoolyard bullies or guiding her brother through high school dances, Dot will be remembered by her intuition- always knowing just what to say or do to make things better.
Dotty’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Abigail. Nothing made her prouder. She poured her love, energy, and understanding into raising them and all of their cousins.
though her time with us was too short, her love and the memories she created with those who knew her will continue to shape the lives she touched.
Dot’s legacy is one of devotion, empathy, and laughter. As we remember her, we are reminded to live with the same humor, grace, strength, and hope she always showed to others.
Dorothea’s family will be sharing details about upcoming memorial services soon. For now, they invite you to set aside time on October 24, 2024, her birthday, to share a memory, say a prayer, or celebrate the beautiful life she lived. In this way, her memory will continue to live on through the love and joy she brought into the world.
We are sending love to all those who loved her as you walk this road of grief.
