Douglas Freddie Pierce's Obituary
Douglas F. Pierce, 81, retired Superintendent with VDOT, formerly of Hedgesville, WV, passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Pierce was a native of Loudoun County, the youngest of 10 children born on March 26, 1929 a son of the late John A. and Myrtle Slack Pierce.
Mr. Pierce was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Virginia Pierce in 2005. He has resided for the last 10 months in Greenfield Assisted Living. Berryville, VA.
Douglas is survived by his daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Frank Jewell of Leesburg, VA; and a granddaughter, Kristin Jewell D’Amico of Atlanta, GA, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, where the family received guests from 6 to 8 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 7, at the funeral home at 11:00am.
Interment followed in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bloomfield, VA.
