Edna L. Shepherd's Obituary
Edna Lorraine Shepherd, 90, of Leesburg VA, passed away on May 6th, 2026.
Born on August 29, 1935, in Washington D.C. Edna was the daughter of the late Edward B. McQuade and Ina A. (Atwell) McQuade.
Edna was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother who loved her family unconditionally.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ina Patterson, Dorothy Rutherford, Wendy (Danny) Huber, Mark Rourk, Charlotte Trammell. She was a proud grandmother of 16, great grandmother of 28 and great-great grandmother of 10! She is also survived by her sister Patricia Frappier.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence McQuade, sister Francis Osbourne, 1 grandchild (Kirsten Kilmer) and son-in-law Paul Patterson, and former husband James H. Rourk.
Edna was a hard worker throughout her life. She worked in cotton fields, waitress, cook, telephone company, housekeeper, childcare and as the neighborhood vet.
Her passions besides her family were gardening, making crafts and puzzles.
Edna’s love for God was ever present. She instilled that faith in her children.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 10 to 11 am at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA. Funeral services will begin at 11 am.
Interment will be held at Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
Pallbearers will be Mark Rourk (son), Shane Locke (grandson), Shawn Rutherford (grandson), Aaron Huber (grandson), Robert Frappier II (Nephew), Colin McCann (friend).
At the family’s request, flowers are welcome, or if you wish to plant a tree in Edna's memory would be appreciated.
