I remember meeting Elaine when I was a child in the early 70’s. I met her at the Potomac Silent Club (PSC) on Columbia Pike in Arlington. This was a long time ago when all of my parents friends & their kids would meet together in person and socialize, I remember the kids playing games for baby showers or special events and Elaine encouraging me & helping me to “win” some of the games. This memory still makes me smile. I would see Elaine on and off again throughout the years and each time she would always make me smile again! Elaine had a wonderful spark, a beautiful sparkle in her eyes, and a big kind loving heart. I am blessed and thankful to have known her. We were blessed to have her with us through out the years as she made positive advancements and changes for the better in our community. We all loved Elaine! How could we not? Her memory is so very dear and cherished ♥️ We love you Elaine Shaffer!!!

I always loved seeing and talking with Elaine whenever I was at NVRC. She was a wonderful person and a tremendous asset to NVRC, and I know Cheryl very much cherished her. She'll be missed by everyone whose path in life she brightened.

Elaine was such a lovely, fun and kind person. I always enjoyed chatting with her at NVRC and she always made you feel just a little bit happier after you spent time with her. She will be missed. My condolences to her family.

I met Elaine when I first volunteered, and then started working, at NVRC. She taught me SO MUCH about ASL, interpreting, the Deaf Community and life. I loved working with her! She was such a huge part of NVRC, and she will be greatly missed. Peace to the hearts of all who love her!
