Elaine Marie Parkinson's Obituary
Born 5/19/1948 in New York City to Eileen Carmody Parkinson and John Parkinson. Survived by husband Thomas Grove of Leesburg, VA and son Christopher Grove of Bellingham, WA; brother Charles Parkinson of Buffalo, NY; Sister-in-law Elizabeth (Rico) Fitt of Churchville, VA; four nephews William and Kevin Parkinson of Buffalo, NY; Eric and David Fitt of Churchville, VA and one great nephew Vaughn Parkinson of Buffalo, NY.
Also surviving are aunts Eleanor Markowski, Agnes Parkinson, Joan Carmody, Uncle Cornelius Carmody, many beloved cousins, and four best friends: Susan Benjamin of Loudonville, NY; Laura Etten of North Tonawanda, NY; and Shelley Zarobila of Leesburg, VA. And Ginny Dashiell of Gig Harbor, WA.
Elaine attended schools in Niagara Falls, NY and graduated from Madonna High School, University of Buffalo and Niagara University. She worked as a case worker for the Niagara County Department of Social Services. After graduating from nursing school at Youngstown University in 1984, she worked as a nurse at Loudoun Hospital Center, the Loudoun Memorial Long Term Care facility and the Loudoun County Health Department as a clinic nurse, Leesburg, VA, until retirement due to health reasons.
Elaine was a Loudoun County Master Gardener and an avid walker who loved to travel to destinations in Europe and the UK to experience new places and sights. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
No funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elaine’s name may be made to Capital Hospice 6565 Arlington Boulevard, Suite 500, Falls Church, VA 22042.
