Eleanor Guarino's Obituary
Eleanor Catherine Volpe Guarino, 75, of Lovettsville, VA since 2008, formerly of Newburgh, NY passed away peacfully March 24, 2011 in Leesburg, VA with her family by her side. Eleanor was born in Newburgh, NY on June 12, 1935 to Leonard A. Volpe and Anna Marino Volpe. She was the eldest of 3 children. Eleanor grew up in Middletown where she met her husband in high school. She was predeceased by her husband Peter A. Guarino in October, 2004, after 48 years of marriage. Eleanor was a book keeper for many years, before opening Pete's Market in Newburgh with her husband and 2 sons. That was her greatest career achievement. She loved the retail business and tried to bring a variety of merchandise to the "Corner Store." She liked to sell plants, small jewelry, grab bags or candy apples. All these items added to a personal hometown touch. Eleanor loved bingo and going to casinos. She also loved Chico her Chihuahua and faithful companion.
Most of all Eleanor loved her family. She was a loving devoted wife, a caring mother to her sons, a proud nana, a thoughtful loving sister, a wonderful aunt and a faithful friend. Eleanor was still very close to her high school girlfriends. She will be fondly thought of everyday by those she
has left behind. She will be remembered forever, and always be in our hearts. We can rest knowing that Eleanor and Pete have been happily reunited for eternity.
Survivors include her sons, Peter A. Guarino and his wife Taina of Virginia, and Steven M.Guarino of Newburgh. Her grandchildren Peter M. Guarino and his wife Jenna, and Michelle L. Guarino and her fiance Leonard Wisniewski. Also Tyler Edwards and his fiance Kristyn Sprague. She leaves behind her brother Leonard A. Volpe and his partner Ari Chorvas of New Windsor, her sister Marianna Van Amburgh and husband Robert of Plattekill. She is further survived by Helen and Bob Osborn of Newburgh, Frank and Theresa Guarino of Cape May, NJ, and Michael (Mickey) and Jane Guarino of Middletown. She also leaves behind 7 nieces and 2 nephews whom she loved each for their individuality.
A memorial visitation will be held in her honor at Brooks - DiDonato Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh on Tuesday May 31, 2011 from 5-8 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh on Wednesday June 1, 2011 at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
