Eleanor Kellogg's Obituary
Eleanor Peterman Kellogg went to join her Lord and Savior on the eve of her 96th birthday on February 6, 2009. She died in the loving care of providers at Faith House in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mrs. Kellogg was born on February 7, 1913, in Steele, North Dakota, the oldest of six children of the late Rudolph and Ora Peterman. She graduated from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, in 1934, where she met her beloved, Edward Kellogg, her husband of 65 years. Mrs. Kellogg shared her love of literature, drama, and poetry with her students as a school teacher for many years in the San Diego school district. Her dramatic performances delighted her students, friends and family throughout the years.
The Kellogg’s hospitality is fondly remembered by the many who enjoyed Mrs. Kellogg’s home-cooked meals and winning smile in a number of communities including San Diego, CA, and Leesburg, Virginia. As a pastor’s wife, Mrs. Kellogg taught Sunday School, joyfully directed the church choir, and played the piano and organ.
Mrs. Kellogg is survived by her brothers Bernard Peterman of Palm Springs, CA, and Lyman Peterman of San Diego, CA; her five children Gwendolyn Urban of Wilmington, Delaware, Susan Schmurr of Georgetown, Texas, Edward Kellogg of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Deborah Kropp of Berkeley, CA, and Janice Heath of Chattanooga, TN; her sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:00pm at Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 19856 Evergreen Mills,Leesburg, VA.
Interment will be held privately in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
