Elena P. Jaropillo's Obituary
Elena P. Jaropillo of Chantilly, Virginia passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Reston Hospital Center in Reston, VA due to complications arising from her long battle with diabetes.
She was born in Talisay, Negros Occidental in the Philippines on January 11, 1938 to the late Vicente Jaropillo, Sr. and Adela Pangantihon Jaropillo.
Elena was working as a Baker at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles in Chantilly, VA for the past 17 years. When she came to the United States more than 40 years ago, she initially stayed in Virginia Beach while finishing her Business degree at the Tidewater College. She fell in love with Virginia and although she moved a couple of times, she has never left the State.
As a child growing up in the Philippines, she always loved cooking for family and friends but not until she started working at the Chocolate House that she discovered her passion for baking. Her baking tools and recipe books are her prized possessions. After completing her studies here in the US, she worked as a baker in a number of places and would always take pride in her “creations”. She was a very cheerful person who would always wear a smile on her face. There was no dull moment with her around as she always had happy stories to share, punctuated by infectious laughter. She loved long drives, being outdoors and seeing new places.
She is survived by one sister, Teresa J. Feliciano and her children (Chito and Ellen, Roel and Susan and Ronaldo and Regina of Malvern, PA), a brother, Antonio Jaropillo and his wife Helen and their children (Eric and Susan, Erwin and Noralina and Errol and Jennifer), other nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members and friends both from the US and the Philippines.
Arrangements are being handled by Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE, Leesburg, VA, where prayer services will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
Interment will be held at a later date in the Philippines.
