I was checking my YouTube account to read a comment left on a video of General Rice and Mrs. "Bebe" when I ended up here. My heart just fell! I am so shocked and saddened to learn of Bebe's passing. She was such a pleasure to be around and always inspired me. It was truly an honor and a privilege to work for her and Maj. General Rice when they sold their house in Mclean a while ago. I am so sad that I was not aware until today. I send my condolences and prayers to Duff, his son and family. - Donna Paton

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Rice's passing. I was just recommending one of her books for a friend's daughter and when I searched her name, I was sadly greeted with her obituary. I'm sorry that the world lost this light. When I was in 4th grade, I found her book "The Year the Wolves Came" in my school's library and an avid reader was born. It was the 1st book I truly loved. I'm 32 and a copy of that book holds a prominent spot on my bookshelf. It is taken out often and reread. Her words and stories will live on forever in my home and heart. Sending you all love for the loss of this special woman.

Bebe was part of "The Soup Group,: a small group of children's authors who met regularly in my Rockville kitchen to read and discuss our current writing projects. She was always quick to suggest a helpful idea when one of us was stuck in a manuscript. When our group broke up, I greatly missed her cheerful company.
