Elwin "Dick" Houck's Obituary
Houck, Elwin Richard “Dick”, age 88, passed away peacefully at Woodland Assisted Living Center in Lovettsville, VA. His beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Houck; Son, Bill Houck and Wife Nancy of Waterford, VA and two grandchildren Ginger and Billy Houck also of Waterford, VA survive him. His son, Richard Charles Houck in 1988, predeceases him. Born to the late Charles and Emma (Black) Houck in Dudley, PA on September 6, 1917, he was a coal miner, a PA State Trooper, a D.C. Metro Police officer and an Electrical Specialist for the NSA at Ft. Meade until his retirement. He also served in the Army Air Corp as a parachutist / photographer. He was a resident of Leesburg, VA for almost 22 years, previously living in Arlington, VA since the 1940’s.
Mr. Houck was an avid volunteer, especially for Victim Witness and M.A.D.D.; and was one of the founders of NORVA Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid trout fisherman, lifelong Redskins fan, and has received numerous awards for his endurance swimming ability. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, VA 20175. Rev. James Greene will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery, Purcellville, VA. Memorial Donations may be made in Dick’s Honor to the Capital Hospice, 6565 Lee Highway, Suite 501 Falls Church, VA 22042.
