Eric James Clevinger's Obituary
Eric Clevinger of Leesburg, VA died unexpectedly in the evening of Friday, March 22, 2024. He was 45 years old.
Eric was known equally for both his loyalty to others and “dad joke” sense of humor; he loved his friends and family fiercely and lived to bring joy to those around him. It was common to find Eric spending his time in service to others, even if those others were strangers who just needed someone to notice their presence in the world. He loved to share memes and reels on social media, ride every roller coaster he could find, battle his gaming buddies/best friends online, give scritches to his cats, play with his dog, and make experiential memories with his children.
Eric is survived by his loving wife, Joia and was a proud father to two amazing children: Madison and Benjamin. He is also survived by his dad Jim (Jo Anne) Clevinger and brother Shawn (Heather) Clevinger. Eric was predeceased by his mother Debra Clevinger.
Although Eric spent the last year of his life as a Facilities Director at Christian Fellowship Church, he built strong relationships in the ten years prior at Thorlabs, Inc. in various roles, and had deep, connective bonds with his military family as he proudly served as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the United States Navy where he earned the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. His untimely departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply in his wide network and community.
