Ethel Katherine Rutherford's Obituary
Ethel Katherine Rutherford, age 72, spent most of her life in Loudoun County, passed away on April 8, 2006 in Martinsburg, WV. Born to the late Roy and Elva Connor in Bluemont, VA on May 25, 1933. She is survived by her children, Charles Philyaw Jr., Zackie Philyaw, Tracy Philyaw and Connie Siegler, all of Harpers Ferry, Rosie Dempsey of Winchester, Marsha Shelburne of WV, Cindy Drabic of Baltimore and James Shelburne of Baltimore; one sister, Charlotte Watson of Brunswick. Ethel was the proud grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Philyaw, her second husband Carl D. Rutherford; one sister Edna Pauline Cross; and one son Carl Rutherford Jr. Ethel enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her grandchildren. Friends may call on Monday, April 10, 2006 from 5 until 8 pm at Loudoun Funeral Chapels, 158 Catoctin Circle SE Leesburg, VA 20175 where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11:00 am. Pastor Ron Sage will officiate. Ethel will be laid to rest in Lovettsville Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Ethel’s honor.
