Farren Elizabeth Titcomb's Obituary
Farren Elizabeth Titcomb, 15, completed her earthly adventure on August 25th, 2023, in the loving arms of her parents and left behind the complexities of her body to soar free in heaven.
Farren was born on February 15th, 2008, in Fairfax, Virginia. Though born with significant medical challenges and disabilities that guided much of her life, her spirit, tenacity, and quiet grace were ever-present during her life.
With her patient, inquisitive, and fiery green eyes, her playful sighs and expressions, Farren could command a room and melt hearts. For a child unable to offer a spoken word, she conveyed volumes to those who took the time to listen.
While Farren spent much of her time nestled in the peaceful rolling countryside of her Virginia home, she could also be spotted on the peaks of mountain tops, gazing at the stars on twilight beach strolls, or cruising the halls of her schools and medical spots rocking a stellar wardrobe, fabulous shoe collection, and her beautiful long curls.
The life and love that poured through her sweet soul to those who spent time with her has left our world forever changed. The gift of raising, loving, and caring for Farren offered many profound lessons. For a child who required so much care, to spend time with Farren was to feel that you had gained much more than you had given.
Farren is carried on by her parents Cathleen and Blair Titcomb, her brother Flynn, 9, her maternal grandparents Cathy Hughes and Greg Davis, paternal grandfather Dr. Robert Titcomb, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We are joyful to know she was met in heaven by her paternal grandmother Betsy Titcomb and maternal grandfather Andrew McDonald.
It would be impossible to thank everyone who loved and supported her alongside us on this journey. So, to our family and village, both near and far, we thank you. We would specifically like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Sawyer at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, and NP Ginny Gebus at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC for being a big part of Team Farren. We gratefully acknowledge her beloved helpers, Ms. Christa and Ms. Jenny, as well as an incredible assortment of teachers, therapists, and medical caregivers who supported her on her journey, which recently included 1 amazing day of high school.
Immediate services will be private for her family. A celebration of her life, to share with those she touched, will be announced in the coming weeks.
For those who wish to make donations in her honor, we ask that you continue our ongoing support of the Child Life Programs at either LeBonheur Children’s Hospital or INOVA Fairfax Hospital:

Attempting to convey all that Farren was and all that she taught us seems an impossible thing. After reflection, we would like to share the following -
That a human life, which so profoundly lacked almost all that passes for necessity, could create so much of what almost all agree is the true purpose of life, in the end, gives a glimpse of what a gift she was, of what a gift life is, and how much more we all have to learn.
In her memory, please embrace kindness and love fiercely.
