FRANCES VIRGINIA REID's Obituary
Frances Virginia Reid, born May 25th, 1931 to the late Lynnwood and Hattie Grigsby. Frances left us to be with The Lord on January 17th, 2023 at Birmingham Green Nursing Home in Manassas, VA.
Frances and her twin brother, Franklin, were the third siblings of six children. A Virginia native, she was educated in Fauquier County. Frances joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church (aka: Rectortown Church) at an early age. Mt. Olive became her church home and Frances was an honorary missionary member.
Frances loved her church and her family. She was a strong woman who worked as a domestic worker for many years. Frances enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She married Reginald “Rocky” Reid in 1955 and she had a set of twins – Terri Turner and Jerry Reid and two daughters, Harriet King and Hattie Reid.
Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reginald “Rocky” Reid, twin brother Franklin, and sisters Mary Ann Davis, Ethel “Biggie” Smith, and Helen “Tee-Lee” Howard.
She is survived by her children, Terri Turner of Sterling, VA and Jerry (Doris) Reid of Dothan, Al, Harriet (Nelson) King of Leesburg, VA and Hattie Reid of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren Tonya Turner, Dewayne King, Jerry “Jay” Reid Jr., April King, Devon Reid, and Jaquan Reid; sister Marie “Deeda” Napper; Sister-In-Law Gloria Wines; Brother-In-Law Allen Reid; and 10 Great Grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Frances on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Rectortown, 2932 Atoka Road, Marshall, VA 20115 where a visitation will be held from 10AM-11AM, service to begin at 11AM. Burial will follow immediately at Mt. Zion Memorial Park.
All are welcome to join for the Repass at the church following the Committal Service.
