Francis Xavier Winnett, 87, SSGT USMC ret, of Ashburn, VA, formerly of Stafford, VA, passed on December 25, 2022. Survived by, his wife, Mary Bernadette Winnett, two sister, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, Samantha and Read Obituary
Francis was a very special person. He shared himself and his wisdom with all. He never “told” you anything, he listened and shared his thoughts. Something was always revealed to me after talking with him. He was a blessing to all he came in contact with. I am grateful for knowing him. Kathy Izzo

Adequate words fail me when speaking to the profound impact of Francis' knowledge and wisdom upon my life...and so many of my friends, as well. I for one, am richer today in my relationship with God and the people around me because of knowing and listening to Francis over the years. Thanks in part to Francis, I have a family that loves me today, friends that trust me, and peace and contentment with all God has given me. I believe God sent him into our lives and the resulting benefits are incalculable. Thank you Francis and Mary for sharing your lives, your wisdom, and your truths with me and with so many of my friends. I praise and give thanks to God Almighty for sending you to us all.
As an OLD friend of Katie's I saw firsthand how Francis' presence influenced her life in such a positive way. He was a wonderful force in the world and was full of love and support. I know his light will be missed, but he will live on through the beautiful memories you created together. Wishing you peace.
Francis or Uncle Fran as he was known to me was a funny, no nonsense person. He and my father, his brother loved each other very much. As a kid he would make a rare visit to our house in his van with always a 6 pack of Diet Pepsi in tow. He had a great laugh like my dad. When my dad reached the end he would speak to him, telling him he couldn’t go until Fran turned 80. When my dad passed, he spoke to my mom and gave her comfort. On a personal note, when my son became addicted to opiates. Fran called me and told me he u derstood a mothers sorrow and that he had done the same to his mom before he got sober.and when my son died, he called me again offering words of comfort. I will never forget that. His light will never be forgotten. I take comfort that he and dad are together again. Rest in Peace Francis X love and prayers, your niece Mary.
