Frank Joseph Loch's Obituary
FRANK J. LOCH, 65, of Reston, VA since 1975, died on February 16, 2008 in Fairfax, Virginia. Mr. Loch was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He earned his BA in Math from Kings College, his BS in Electrical Engineering from Penn State, his Masters in Engineering from the University of Houston, and a Fellows participant at Harvard University.
Mr. Loch was a brilliant man with a zest for life and a passion for science and music. In the early years, he held technical and management positions with NASA and the CIA: and during his many years in the Aerospace industry, he was a member of NASA’s Apollo mission team and actually sat at mission control when astronaut Neil Armstrong landed on the moon! Mr. Loch later worked with S-Tel, Booz Allen Hamilton and was presently employed as CTO for NJVC: Native Joint Venture Corporation.
Mr. Loch had an exuberant love for music and the electronic keyboard that began at the age of 6 and never stopped. In 1976 he won first place in the Yamaha National Electone Festival and represented the United States in the International Festival in Japan. During his lifetime he taught, performed and composed an extensive library of original music for the electronic keyboard, with some of his pieces being recorded and performed with the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra, the Krakow (Poland) Philharmonic Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Loch was a member of Saint John Newman Catholic Church, Reston, VA and his hobbies included crossword puzzles, amateur radio, sports cars and Penn State football.
Mr. Loch is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years Mrs. Nora Moran Loch of Reston, VA; three children: Brian and Caren Loch of Lovettsville, VA, Kevin Loch and Denise Jadud of Haymarket, Lorrie and Joseph Mercier of Reston, VA; parents: Frank and Catherine Durkin Loch of Wilkes-Barre, PA; four brothers: Ed Loch of Wilkes-Barre, PA, John Loch of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Reverand Rick Loch, VA, of Scranton, PA, Al Loch of Lancaster, PA; and six grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, March 6 at the Reston Bible Church, 11979 North Shore Drive, Reston, VA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Penn State University School of Music, 233 Music Building, University Park, Pennsylvania 16802.
