I worked with Fred for many years at AT&T and was his unofficial information gatherer in the Accounting org. My favorite story that Fred told me was when at VMI he marched with his unit on the parade grounds barefoot with just his feet painted black , so that he could be a rebel but still not be detected . This was Fred all over !

Fred was a good friend. He was very unique and a real pleasure to know and be around. The one event I remember best is when I gave him a "Finisher" metal after he completed the Marathon. His management style was like none other. I remember the long walks that he used to express his expectatations and his ability to control meetings. Best of all, I remember that Fred was a very good person.
