Garrett Andrew Newton's Obituary
Garrett Andrew Newton, 20 of Sterling, VA passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at home in Sterling, VA.
He is the son of David and Colleen Newton.
Garrett played baseball, enjoyed fishing, music and traveling with his hockey team and on family vacations. His natural instinct was to be a defender on and off the ice. He had an exceptional gift to make others smile even if they were down; he embodied the meaning of a true friend. Garrett shared his smile, love of life, and most importantly, his faith. Garrett would ask that you remember Hebrews 13:1-3. “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Don’t forget to welcome outsiders. By doing that, some people have welcomed angels without knowing it. Keep on remembering those in prison. Do this as if you were together with them in prison. And remember those who are treated badly as if you yourselves were suffering.” He felt the most peace, joy, and happiness at the beach.
Garrett’s passing came suddenly. He had plans of returning to college, attending his sister’s graduation, and spending time with his family.
He is predeceased by his grandfather Andrew Gilland, and grandparents Corinne and John Newton. He is survived by his parents, sister Carson E. Newton of Sterling, VA, grandparents Gigi and Peter Street of Long Island, NY, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Please come celebrate Garrett’s life with the Newton’s at 1:00PM Saturday April 8th. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to prison fellowship at www.prisonfellowship.org.
