Gaylord Cochran's Obituary
Gaylord Cochran, 67, of Sterling, VA died of complications from brain cancer at his home on Saturday.
Mr. Cochran was born on November 9, 1942 in Webster County, WV, the 7th of 11 siblings born to Mary Bell Duckworth and Gaylord Cochran, Sr. After graduating from Webster Springs High School, where he was an honor student and a varsity athlete, he moved to the Washington, DC area. Mr. Cochran was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union #26 for almost 50 years.
Mr. Cochran was an avid sports fan, as well as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the Washington Redskins, NASCAR and bluegrass music. He coached many youth baseball, soccer and basketball teams in the Sterling, VA area.
He is survived by his wife Ellen, of over 40 years, and his 2 children, John Cochran of Purcellville, VA and Jennifer Page, of Sterling, VA, as well as 3 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and oldest brother Teddy James Cochran of Tarboro, NC.
Memorial services will be held at 1PM, Saturday January 9th at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, VA, to be followed by a private funeral in Webster County, West Virginia at a later date.
