George Lee Smith's Obituary
George L. “Buck” Smith passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Inova Loudoun Hospital. A lifelong resident of Loudoun County, Buck was born on March 27, 1924, in Sterling, Virginia. He was a son of the late Ernest Sr. and Mary Belle Smith. Buck was president and co-owner of Smith, Thomas & Smith, Inc. in Bethesda, Maryland. He was a World War II Veteran, Special Deputy for the Loudoun County Police Department, and charter member of the Sterling Ruritan Club. Above all he was a loving and dedicated husband, Daddy, Pappy, and friend.
Buck was predeceased by his beloved wife and darlin’ of 68 years, Elizabeth “Sue” Smith, a grandson, Christopher Pearson, and a sister, Gladys Smith. He leaves to cherish his memory three devoted children and their spouses, Butch and Linda Smith of Leesburg, Virginia, Judy and Mike Pearson of Ashburn, Virginia, and Chuck and Jackie Smith of Ashburn, Virginia. He also leaves a sister, Mary Ellen Boyd of Sterling, Virginia, and two brothers, Ernest Smith, Jr. of Sterling, Virginia, and James Smith of New Market, Virginia. He will be forever loved by his nine grandchildren: Brian, Bradley, J.D., Dean, and Paige Smith, Shelley McCullers, Lauren Murphy, and Todd and Eric Pearson, and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Wednesday May 30, 2012, from 6 to 9pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 11am at the funeral home.
Interment will be held in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Virginia, following the ceremony.
