Gilbert Johnson, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Gilbert L. Johnson, 75, of Sterling, VA, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Inova Loudoun Hospital. Gilbert Lee Johnson was born on April 9, 1933 in Loudoun County, VA. He was a son of the late Wyatt Johnson and the late Gertrude Jackson Johnson.
Gilbert attended Loudoun County Public Schools. He formerly owned and operated Johnson Trash Service. Mr. Johnson worked for the last 29 years for the Loudoun County Sheriffs Department in building maintenance.
He had many hobbies including fishing, playing the guitar, listening to the blues, and watching Judge Brown and Judge Judy. He had many nicknames including “P.T”,“Sonny,” and “Red”.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Johnson of Sterling, VA; his nine children: Curtis Moten of Richmond, VA, Omar Davis of Sterling, Gilbert Johnson, Jr. of Chantilly, VA, Margaret and Sharon Johnson both of Reston, Leon Johnson of Vineland, NJ, Alice Johnson of Ashburn, VA, Carolyn Johnson of Sterling, VA, Stacey Johnson-Simpkins of Sterling, VA; his brother Calvin Johnson, Jr. of Leesburg, VA and nineteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was also survived by sister-in-laws: Leeta and Suzanne Hughes both of Leesburg; brother-in-law: David Fisher of Haymarket, VA; his daughter-in-laws: Eunice Moten of Richmond, VA, Toni Johnson of Vineland, N.J.; son-in-laws: Robert Carter, III of Sterling, VA, and Jermaine Jackson of Charles Town, WV; plus a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, a son Melvin Johnson, a granddaughter Devin, his grandson Tyler, and four siblings Sophia Sanderson, Lucille Pollard, Mary Glenn and Leola Powell predeceased Mr. Johnson.
Friends may call on Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 9am until the time of service at 11am on Saturday at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Interment will follow in Tippett Hill Cemetery in Sterling, VA.
