Gladys Barbara Johnson's Obituary
Gladys Barbara Johnson, age 79, of Leesburg, VA, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the residence of her daughter Paula D. and son in law Wade Smith, Sr. in Middleburg, VA.
A lifelong resident of Loudoun County, VA, Gladys was born Monday, January 6,1936. She was one of four children, a daughter of the late William McKinzie Young and the late Emily Louise Trammell Young.
She was a graduate of Douglass High School class of 1954 and has worked for Roy Rogers Restaurant on Market Street in Leesburg, VA, for 27 years. Prior to Roy’s she was employed with Gino’s Restaurant also on Market Street and worked in the domestic field. She was baptized at First Mount Olive Baptist Church at an early age and served the church faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir and always assisting in the kitchen no matter the occasion or special service until the decline of her health in 2014.
She leaves her family to cherish her memory including her husband Paul Heywood Johnson of Leesburg, VA, her daughters, Paula Darwin and son in law Wade Smith, Sr. of Middleburg, VA, Lolitta Denise and son in law Angelo Polk, Sr. of Leesburg, VA, and Stacey Elaine Archer of Charlestown, WV; two aunt’s Evelyn Moten of Leesburg, VA, and Lucinda Trammell of Herndon, VA; sisters, Evelyn L. and brother in law Glandwood D. Moore, Sr., of Leesburg, VA, and Mary E.Y. Reid of Leesburg, VA, her brother, William T. Young, Sr. and sister in law Brenda A. Young of Leesburg, VA; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, god children and a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Gladys’s life was at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at First Mount Olive Baptist Church located at 216 Loudoun Street, SW, Leesburg, Virginia 20175 with the Rev. Harold S. Stinger officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln, VA.
The family will received friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2015, at First Mount Olive Baptist Church, 216 Loudoun Street, SW, Leesburg, Virginia.
