Grant Tompkins Haight's Obituary
Grant Tompkins Haight, aged 73 of Sterling, VA passed at INOVA Loudoun Hospital December 12, 2016, surrounded by his family. Grant was born in Peekskill, NY on October 29, 1943 to Alfred and Fern Haight. He graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in 1961. Shortly after graduating from high school he married Judith A. Murray, daughter of Tommy and Fran Murray of Verplank, NY. From there he began his career in computer engineering working with IBM. After a while he relocated the family to Sterling, VA in 1979 to begin his career with Control Data, of Rockville, MD. After many years, he then went on to work with Memorex/Telex of Northern Virginia. His last career, and possibly his favorite, was with the Metro Washington Airport Authority as a field mechanic working on jet ramps as well as the
"people movers" at Dulles Airport. He truly found a new joy in this job later in life.
Grant leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Judy, their three children, Chris (Dawn) and their children Tommy and Hope of Lakewood, CO, Tom Haight of Sterling, VA and Kara (Ben) Chu and their children Alex, Kelsey and Aaron, of Clifton Park, NY.
He is also survived by his brother Alfred (Sonner) Haight of Manassas, VA, and his sister Beverly (Bob) Lewis of Montrose, NY and was preceeded in death by his parents as well as his brother Gregory D. Haight. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 15th from 7-9pm at Loudoun Funeral Chapel 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg,VA.
