Heidi Linn Malacarne's Obituary
After a protracted battle with breast cancer, Heidi Linn Malacarne died on October 10, 2022, at the Adler Center in Aldie, VA at the age of 65. She leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Charles “Chuck” Malacarne; her daughter, Alison Malacarne; and her son, Matthew Malacarne.
Heidi was born on November 26,1956 in Mifflin County, PA, to father Bernard Linn and mother Winifred (Peck) Linn. She grew up in Landisville, PA with her three brothers. Heidi graduated from Hempfield High School in Landisville and studied Horticulture in college, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State in 1978.
Heidi met her husband, Chuck, in college and they were married in 1980. His career led them to relocate to Mississippi, Maryland, Florida, Alabama, and Pennsylvania before they settled in Leesburg, VA in 1989. There the couple lived and raised their two children.
Heidi became a mother who was dedicated to her children – especially her daughter, Alison, who was diagnosed with atypical Rett Syndrome at an early age. The strength and determination that she applied to advocating for her daughter was reflected in her teaching and advocacy for other children with special needs and anyone in need. And when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, that same strength and determination served her in her fight with cancer – to the very end.
Heidi is survived by her husband and children; her mother; and her brothers Bernie, Wesley and Tim Linn; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday October 21 at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, Leesburg VA.
