Heinz Josef Eiermann's Obituary
Heinz Josef Eiermann, 88, of Lansdowne, VA, formerly of Alexandria, VA, died on Saturday, August 18, 2012, with his wife, Lorraine, by his side.
Heinz was born in Baden, Germany on March 2, 1924. He graduated from Erlangen University in Erlangen, Germany with a degree in pharmaceutical chemistry in 1948. He worked as a pharmacist in Germany, then moved to Brazil in 1952 to work as a chemist for Johnson & Johnson in Sao Paulo. There, he lived with relatives who had previously moved to Brazil. In 1954, Heinz moved to the United States. He lived and worked in New Jersey as an employee at Shulton, Inc. until 1973. Before resigning from Shulton, he achieved the position of Vice President of Research of the Cosmetics and Toiletries Division. In 1973, he moved to Virginia to work for the Food and Drug Administration as the Director of the Division of Cosmetics Technology, and, later, as the Director of the Division of Colors and Cosmetics. He retired from the FDA in 1991 and later became a Technical and Regulatory Consultant.
Heinz enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling the world, and experiencing different cultures. He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Lorraine, his brother, Werner. Heinz is also survived by his stepchildren – Valerie Covarrubias, Pamela (and Russell) Werner, Cas (and Lisa) Kowalewski – and grandchildren – Max, Stefani, and Bridget Werner, and, Cas, Megan, and Kelly Kowalewski.
A memorial service will be held at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel (158 Catoctin Circle, Leesburg, VA 20175) on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Capital Caring – Hospice (2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, VA 22042) or to the Lansdowne Fire Department (19485 Sandridge Way, Leesburg, VA 20176).
